The 7-step licence check
- Find the exact legal company name that will hold your account (in the footer or client agreement).
- Search it on the regulator's official register: the CMA list of online forex brokers in Kenya or the FSCA register of financial services providers in South Africa. Our broker check links to both.
- Make sure the licence covers the service (for example, non-dealing online forex broker, or derivatives).
- Check that the website address and contact details match the register.
- Read the client agreement: which company and which country will you be a client of?
- Search the name in Scam Watch and on the regulator's warnings page.
- Test a small deposit and withdrawal before funding fully.
Questions people ask
Is an offshore licence enough?
An offshore licence offers less protection and may not allow the broker to serve your country. Prefer a broker licensed by your local regulator.
